Well basically I was riding into town to get some money to tax my ped. Just as I pulled over to park up a traffic cop in a Mondeo pulled up behind me.. I knew I was about to get my arse slapped from there on. Cut a long story short, I didn't have my L plates on as the rain from the nights before had made the adhesive on the tape non-sticky, But I had them under my seat. So no matter how much I tried telling him that I had come in to tax it and that I had all of my documents, He still didn't believe me. So he said this "I either give you a £60 fine and 3 points and a 7 day wonder and leave it at that, Or you don't pay the fine or recieve the 3 points and we take you to court" So I took the points and the fine. Went down to the station paid the fine and produced my documents and I thought that would be the last of it. Yesterday I got a letter from the DVLA saying that I have to pay another £32 as a court settlement or I will be taken to court for a "Unlicenced Vehilcle" yet the bastard never mentioned anything about this. From what I have gathered, The cop only done me for my L plates and then reported me to the DVLA for having no tax and they are saying that even if it has been taxed you need to pay it as it is not declared as SORN. Do I fight it or just pay it? As I think that if I fight it, they will open up a court case, I lose it and then have to pay even more court fee's. Has any one had a exoeriance like this??

hi. i had the same problem. on the bottom of the slip theres a bit that you can send of so you can go to court an argue it. send that of and they sent me back a letter sayying they will let it go this time but make sure it does not happend again. it was even on the news with things like thisthey wont bother takeing you to court it takes up to much time and money.

when i first got legal my mum made me go to the postoffice on my pedal bike to get my tax.

and made me get macdonalds for her on the way back.

only took about halfhour but id rather that than points + fine

    similiar thing happened to me...
i was stopped with no back L plate
it was raining, i told the officer it kept fallin off
so i put it in my seat compartment.
the feds didnt have any of it...
they issued me a FPN with £60 fine and 3 points
i took it to court..funny thing is
they didnt contact me back after my apologetic letter to them
    they said it was pending
now its a good 5 months later and nothing :D

    i hope im lucky...

Nah mate you will definitly hear from them because,

My dad got pulled over in his van for having it over loaded and they took him to court, After 2 years we heard from the court and he got a £700 fine which he was very lucky not to get points.

They take long because there is alot of case's like this so it takes age's to hear from them.

I dont mean to frighten you mate i hope they let you go one time.
