I've just purchased a throttle cable for my 2002 SR 125 Sporter 2 stroke. I snapped it last week. just wondering if replacing the throttle cable is a complicated job with only basic tools and basic mechanical knowledge. is it worth going at it myself and risking making the problem worse for the sake of a £20-£30 fix? thanks in advance to any replies.
I bought a complete new throttle cable. top half and the bottom half where it splits into two cables for the fuel and oil. I've looked at it properly and I think I will get away with taking the old top half off and replacing with the new top half. I won't have to go near the carb or engine casing to take the bottom half off. I'm just going to simply replace the top half from the splitter up to the throttle. I'll let you know how I get on tommorow.
Didn't go as planned. I'm going to have to replace the whole cable, top and bottom half. Quick question. Can I simply take the slide out of the carb and re-connect the new throttle and take engine case off and do the same with the oil pump cable then just put everything back together? Or is there more to it than that like fine tuning etc?
