Hi all i have a 172 runner currently which has a 25ml carb. i know the bike is not running as good as it could i have played around with the jets etc :msn1: but i still no it could push more out of the carb then what it is at the moment. Please if anyone could help or even give me there set up so i have a rough idea of which set up i should be goin with i.e needle atomiser pilot jet?? I am running a 108 atm with a 266 atomiser 45 pilot 2nd cup from top on a m30 needle but i know it can push more. please reply guys imp: Cheers all Dan
not sure bout the atomiser never known any 1 to bother changing it but ive heard mainly people using 105 main jet 55 pilot jet and needle clip at the top
Thanks for that. I'll give it a shot tomorrow in the morning when its light outside. Anyone else with any advice is welcome to post imp: Cheers
right, jetting is a simple case of listening to your engine not other people as ive set up identical bikes with totally diff settings. sounds rich even for an ac. gimmi a list of mods an ill advise further. rollers will need ajustment for the carb too. not a case of "12.5 iz spot on init blud"
Ok then no problem here is the list of things... I have a 172 bore 25ml carb polini evo reed block polini manifold malossi variator 13.5 g rollers polini clutch and clutch bell BGM EVO 52 crank and a KB Racing billet head. Thanks for all the help
providing everythings installed correctly and is working as should you need to drop the jet size to around 98-102.. work down from where your at one by one tho (or in as small an increment as you can) needle needs dropping to top notch and you will have to set the idle mix up obv.. if you dont know how just wind the idle up a little and set the idle mix to the point where the engine ideling feels nice an smooth and as fast as you can get it to with the mix screw... trial and error comes in when you play wiht the carb. head is running higher compression than the fuel can burn at really so a slight raise in exhaust port hight and a lower squish setting (thicker base/2 gasgets) an try a set of 12g's then try them 3 and 3 with the 13.5's and note the difference... make sure its an equally warm engine each try and dont touch the carb atall. this should get you moving well and you will know from the settings and what the bike is saying ride wise where to go with the finer tuning
Alright then so what your saying is i need to use 2 base gasgets rather than one am i correct there? Which will higher the exhaust port a little as you said making the mixture burn more better than what it is at the moment. As for the rollers jetting i will be doing this one at a time and not changing loads of bits all at once. Thanks for all your help Minor
Jetting & Rollers Hi Guys I have a kind of similiar problem on my typhoon my spec is 172 bore kit pm59 exhaust modded reed block with malossi carbon reeds 25 mm carb with pm tuning jet corection kit but it doesent like the 108 105 0r 102 its happy with 100 or a 98 needle is at second from top malossi multivar 12.gr rollers 3g maxi malossi fully adjustable clutch white springs and white torque spring polini kevlar belt pmtuning boost bottle i have hit around 90 but i feel the bike can hit so much more the engine is aircooled i would like to run a bigger jet so i mite play around with the needle position and mixture and rollers im going to try stagger the rollers with 12.5 gr and 15gr respectivly i build bikes every day so i know what im doing but i love listening to other peoples comments critisisms and views so any views i would be glad to hear. Minor if you can vent your opinion also i would be obliged many thanks Syk3s
Re: Jetting & Rollers Post some pics up of your bike in the project section, then we will help looooool
lol ur funny yh when im ready to post pics i will my bike aint done yet wait for the finished artical if you dont wanna help m8 thats cool what your not willin to do sum 1 else will
Re: lol your funny 'read all above posts' - he explains what is a good setup to start working around, no-one can tell you the right setup, it is purely dependant on the bike
"jet correction kit's" make me laugh.. uits a couple jets in a bag they charge 30 odd quid for. easy one with the typhoon is bang the 105 back in and drop the needle to the top notch. wind the idle mix out to around 2 turns an it should be ok. take it the runner is fine now ye?
Yeah the runner is going well at the moment. I also forgot to say that i have changed the original slide (30) for a (40) slide as the cutaway area was larger than the 30 there for it will let more air in. And that i have a airfilter on it aswel. Cheers
LOL good luck with that one m8.. stage 6 are cheap copies of a good carb, samew with the bgm's.. think its around a 280 to start then work down. remember theres more curcits in the carb so theres alot more to play with.
PM59 As BONG!!!!! LOOOOOOL yh thanks minor ill try that i just been polishing my pm 59 what a bastard 2 do lol :w00t: i went to by drillbits to finish the polishing to come back to see my cousin using my pm59 as a bong!!! loooool bcoz he didnt know what it was he sed hed by it off me for £20 he thought it was a bong loooooool well he was buzzin as for the jetting ill give it a go the weathers bin total shit down here and im in the middle of trynna do a 57plate runner i have managed to get a 180 sp lump in there the wiring of the electric dash is a knightmare anyhow take care ill let u guys know how i get on take care & ride safe SYK3S
not liking the bigger jets easy minor yep tried your 105 and 2 turns out stil spluttery in the end i went right down to 95!! but for the setup i got i think its to small im gonna mix the 12gr rollers with 15gr to see if it gets me past 90mph not sure what else to do or shall i take all the 12grs out and just wack all 15 grs in??
try all 15's an see how it runs... fi its spluttery it could be rich still.. try the rollers an look at the plug. not perfect but it gives you an idea. but one thing at a time. when is it spluttery? first throttle or just at full throttle... at what speeds? gotta be more specific than that
