Right I've finally fit my stage 6 pro replica exhaust with 5.25g rollers. (what a hassle)
Basically i did some researching before all of this, finding out from a Haynes manual that the standard main jet size on a zip sp is 75. Also found out that when adding an aftermarket exhaust you increase te jet size by 10% which is 82-83.
When changing the jet we discovered that the jet fitted was a 58?! I knew straight away an 82 would not work out.
Anyway, as the title says my ped reaches 20mph with no spluttering etc?
So I'm just wondering if anyone has a solution (apart from buying a new main jet)

you have to rejet or it will run lean,

as the speed, is the bike revving really high and just crawling along like you where holding in the clutch and revving it , or is it hardly revving at all and just crawling away as if it cant build up revs?

    Too lean or too rich?

The bike accelerates fine, its like its hard to find/build revvs

I'm just confused as to why we pulled out a 58 size jet when in fact it should be 75 according to the Haynes manual

The standard jet size in piaggio/gilera is 56/58 with gold plate in the carb with a exhaust you will need a 62 the manual must be refering to the older engine that have a smaller 12 mm carb on and a bigger main jet, i had a stage 6 pro rep on my gilera runner years ago and it needed even lighter rollers than my zx wich were 5g as its a revy pipe

Yeah my mate come round and helped and he took the gold plate thing out because he said its a restrictor? Will removing that effect anything?

Is it definitely a case of rejetting to 62 because I don't want to be fucking around with the air fuel mixture and end up in a complete mess

Removing the gold plate will affect the jetting and make you bike run lean as f**k lol, some people say its not a restrictor but anything that blocks air flow is you will have to put a massive main jet without it my runner was jetted for when it was out but that was years ago and i forgot the jets now, ive got a nrg power now with the gold plate in and a 62 jet stil goes fine its not worth messing around with the carb as piaggio/gilera have set the carb up ie needle and slide to run with the gold plate in place, i cant be arsed with the jetting as im changing the carb when i get a piston for my mhr rep

Yes the gold plate will got back in and it only fits on one way so you cant go wrong just make sure its firmly in or it will fall back out

Ok, does it screw/bolt on or does it just wedge in?

Alright so I've fitted the 62 jet and also fitted that gold plate back into the carb and I'm only getting 30mph out of it! It's an improvement from 20 but still more potential right? For like 5 seconds until my street ended it felt like it found more revs and felt faster than 30mph. Anyone got any suggestions?

you need to take it for a ride

let it warm up then give it some beans, tell us if it boggs and just moves along or does it race away at high revs to 30 then stop gaining speed and just rev

it could be stock clutch springs too soft and stopping the bike revving out bottom end, remember a sports pipe looses bottom end hence most sports pipes include stiffer springs.

Took it for a run to town and back (i'd say a 5 mile trip there and back) but still no improvements. When i first start the bike from idle it does feel faster but whilst im riding it full throttle I get no more than 30 out, it kinda splutters at 1/4 throttle but not huge, only slight.

Go up another 2 or 3 sizes with the main jet mate
