my mate a got his hands on a 2001 aerox.

when we first tried it out it ran and everything but spluttered throughout the revs, it picked up alright and rode ok for an old bike. but this problem has got worse after we stripped it down, we took the engine apart to find the previous owner had just run water throught the pipes and found the engine in asorry state with all the pipes clumped up with gunk. we cleaned all the engine out, we cleaned the carb, checked all the transmission and the inlet manifold, all seemed ok. so after putting everything back together and also replacing the spark plug, it started up nicely, but taking it for a test, it barely moved, the revs started to pick up but when it starts to kick in the revs drop back off and the bike splutters and when you pull the throttle back it just splutters. the throttle in almost unresponsive and takes an age for the revs to pick up even at full throttle! sometimes even at full throttle the bike is almost on tickover.

i dont have an idea what the problem.. or problems could be but hopefully it's an easy fix ;D
just need any ideas of what could be wrong with it, carb or engine.. not a clue.

the bike also has a manual choke and that seems to play a big part in starting it up, but it seems intermittant and just.. pointless.

    any ideas please post asap,

    cheers
    chris.

we changed the rollers to some other standard ones i pulled out of mine, the were the same size and weight just in better nick as the old ones were flattt.

and nope the bike came with a standard derestricted pipe, not the original but a replacement.

having another look at it today, managed to tinker with it yesterday and it starts first time now, but it's still a mess with the revs not being there and it spluttering :/

    cheers,
    chris
