Hi guys, Im about to swap my zip 70 for and old old shape skipper, 1994 on a L reg, typhoon 125cc 2T AC engine, 1 owner from new and just clocked over to 10,000 genuine miles, tax and mot for 9months.

Looked at it, mint.. Couldent ask for better.

Is there anything about these old ones I should know about before swapping?? The owner told me the carb is a non-adjustable mikuni or some other brand.. But I can easyly swap this with a dellorto carb correct?

Obviously its gonna get 172'ed, do all the newest 172 kits still fit the old old engine? I think this has a series one engine but im unsure as this will be my first ever 125 2T scooter, so im not clued up with these beasts.

But ye thanks for any info peoples

to be honest most of the problems with the old 2 strokes is the crap waterpump. as its air cooled theres not alot you need to worry engine wise. your going to change the top end anyway.

if it looks well looked after you couldnt ask for better with a 2 stroke engine. it may need an oil seal or 2 as they perrish after a while but thats it

Sweeeeet cheers monty thats pretty much what I wanted to hear!

Yea its a beaut, 10,000miles since new with old mot's to prove right back to its first mot in 1997. Totally standard, unless the carbs been changed because it does not have a dellorto. But ye, very clean apart from the inners are abit faded/sun bleached but a little trim restorer should sought that. :)

I think im very lucky to find a bog standard 125 2T in this condition, looks like its on a typhoon style frame too so maybe some typhoon panels will fit?

Cant wait! 172 skipphoon here I come!!

Yes it does! Rim can split into 2 pieces for easy tyre changing and the wheels would look sick with chrome or gold plated bolts.

The rear panels look almost identical to a typh, got the same service cover too. Not sure about the front end though its a completely different shape panel.

Would be nice to think it could be converted to a typhoon one day.

JUST got it 10 mins ago!! I did not think I was getting the bike today but the guy wants to swap now.

Im extreamly happy right now! This is my first 125 2T scoot, I never thought Id even get the chance to ride one let alone own a 125 2T piaggio!!

First things first, gotta switch that carb with a dellorto and get some lighter rollers as shes abit sluggish off the line..

What size rollers do these engines take? 1993 typhoon AC engine, and roughtly what weight is good for a bog standard engine?

    Roll on payday!
