Hi there, I have a 2001 runner 180vxr 4T. And Im not completly happy with the temp guage, It moves but bearly. If im just trotting around town, it will move up off the stop but only a little its bearly noticable. And If im cruising at high speeds it stays cold.
And If I let the bike tick over for a long time it will slowly move up about 1/2 way up the guage. But no further even though I know the engine is overheating or getting very very hot as you can clearly see heat waves around the entire bike.

How do I solve this? Will a new temp sensor on the cylinder fix the problem?

And the cooling fan is constantly on, even when I fire it up from cold it just cuts in after a few seconds.
    Is this supposed to happen?

Thanks in advance for any help, Im just pranging out abit as its a nice bike and I want everything to work perfectly

The tempreture guage is normal. 1/2 is when the fan should come on so it coming on straight away isnt normal

if it comes on straight away then its obviously faulty....

probably why the temp guage is being shitty

Ok guys cheers for help! I will leave the temp guage as monty says its normal, but what could cause the fan to constantly come on?? Maybe this could be a good thing anyway?

Yeah does look like a plastic fan.

Today it didnt come on at all when riding, untill I got home and checked it. It came on this time after ticking over for about 2 mins, temp guage about 1/4 way up the dial.

This thing has got a bloody mind of its own! Well atleast it kinda works, I will just keep an eye on it for now.
