i im thinking of buying an old style aprilla rs125 as they are rapid but im told they are high matinace i know i will need to rebuild it quite often from what im told aswell just wondering if anyone has had one and how good or bad they are and are they hard to work on
the rs is a good bike but most of the old shape rs have been raged to an inch of there lives, i had a new shape rs for a year had no problems, u just need to give them a good warm up for 15 mins or so before you give it the beans, but tbh i wouldn't go anywhere near an old shape rs myself without any proof of a rebuild, as most are pretty unreliable and there not cheap to fix
If you maintain them well there is no reason for it to be less reliable than any other bike. Try and find one with genuine low mileage if that's possible.
most of the ones ive seen on ebay are 10.000 miles and up so i was thinking of buying one and then buying a spare engine and getting the spare fullyrebuilt so i can stick that in when the other blows up or maybe even getting an rs50 instead are rs50s anybetter
not really if your going to get an old shape rs with new engine and getting it fully rebuilt your looking at a good 600 qwid there so might aswell get a new shape left standard
Finding a decent old RS is like finding a needle in a haystack. They've all been thrashed to shit, apart from a lad I know, who's got a 172 kit and all the rest, but rides at pedestrian speeds, fool But yeah, that's why I got an old MZ, £200, old man for an owner, engine has lots of potential, built it into a cafe racer
ive been looking and ive found a sky-jet 125 looks like a cbr and only£1000 new with a years warrenty and as i only gonna have it a year i dont see how i can go wrong and it says they do 70mph witch isnt too bad
