Pretty set on getting a NRG now, soon as get last bit of cash together but if I'm 16 does it mean I have to keep it all standard and there's nothing I can do to it?

Haven't got a clue on the legalities of it, so if anyone could shed some light would be great.

    Thanks,

To be legal it has to be derestricted to 30mph...

I'm definantley getting a second hand bike, and most are de-restricted and have sports exhaust at least.

How are the police going to know if your 16 or not, because as far as I'm aware you are aloud to have them de-restricted and have sports exhausts fitted at 17. As long as you don't drive like an idiot I wouldn't say theres any chance of getting caught, can't get pulled over for no reason.

have to say this for legal reasons but you will be breaking the law and wont be insured.. if your happy with this then play with it. if you dont drive like a wanker you wont get pulled...

I think I'll leave it stock, at least till I learn the ropes. Then will look at mods, but nothing over the top. As I've heard there quite strict if you get caught and for one year its not worth it IMO.

Sensible. There's plenty you can do to it without making it illegal.

remember, there are 16 year olds on here with 172's... and a couple with silly quick 50's. its rare to get caught but if you do they CAN crush your bike there an then (worst case scenario)

police aint supermen, their just like any other person except in uniform with authority, its not like their robots that scan your bike and detect every little fault.

Just keep the bike nice and tidy with all lirhjgts indis working correctly, tread on both tyres, not to loud and you will be fine.

Take terros bike for example, it looks like a fresh well cared for bike as it is, coppers wont look at it and think defantly 180 with scorp, bigger carb, variator ect ect. I bet you 70% or more coppers wont even no big bore kits exist for mopeds

Were as take mine for example, cracked rear light no tread of rear tyre, fuking loud exhaust, their guna think hes been playing with that bike doesnt look very road worthy and pull me and start getting suspicous. As long as the bike is tidy they wont get suspicious.

I wont be suspicious soon thought, new rear light arriving tomorrow, baffles i have actujally alredyt sorted so its not loud and rear tyres getting orderd tomorow then i should stop getting pulled :D

Me and my mate got pulled today cus he had his feet over his bars, his speedy is basically same spec as mine jus a bit under, the coppers saw him with his feet over his bars, he should have got antisocial behavoiur ticket/ warning, or points on his license, they read, pm tuning raceing products on his exhaust, heard how loud it was aswell and funnyily enough just said they dont no the regulations for provisnal mopeds riders but if your going to do that go to a quite car park or industrial state, then they went

thing you have to remember is some police know exactly what there looking at.. when i mentioned racing scooters to a copper they instantly said "is it a 172" police are like everyone else, have interests and learn there job well.. the police round here know exactly what there looking at. ether way doing over 30 even in a 40 qith police behind you will be suspect. your information is displayd on there lil computer automatically now remember so they know who the bike is registerd to and there driver details.

yer the pc thing scans it straight away apprently, but if they ask questions about my exhaust which is the only thing which is really notiable unless you have a overlarge airfilter, i just say my exhaust makes it look nicer and sound better, some cops will just go along with it and think i must think their mugs and some are mugs.

If you mention racing scooters there oboiusly going to think youve played with it though, its like pulling over a evo then the driver starts talking about raceing cars, their obiously going to think he has done something to his motor.

edit* yer i see were your comming from though minor, some traffic police officers hace the right to strip the scoot if they have suspicion and are trained to look out for things such as exhaust, air filter, loudness of bike ect.

They will also most proberly have very good mechanical knowledge and know exactly what a bore is, but traffic police arent the average police car, in most areas there quite rare, and will be looks for big cars anyway.

Its not hard to stick at 30 when cops are around anyway.

And noone can tell the exact speed your going if you drive past, 50's should only really be doing 30, but if your doing 40 it doesnt looks so much faster, you could still get away with saying you were doing 35 with the wind behind you, and as for 172's 125s hit pretty high speeds anyway
