i have a basic 99p one with clips on to just clip onto the battery i use for my air compressor and have used it a few times for a sat nav so cant see any problem with the one in your link if anything its better as it can be hard wired and perminantly fitted into a panel if you go ahead with it take loads of pics of it doing the whole wireing and drilling and put up a project thread for other members

I'm going to have a go in a few weeks time. I've heard people saying it a fuse on it. Would it be best to just run the socket straight off the battery or connect it I other wires??

no put a inline fuse holder on it, i have one as standard on my diesis and it has a fuse. its always a good precaution to have. seen bikes go up in flames due to to some crappy wiring

wire it direct to the battery terminals mine just clips on a inline fuse is always a good idea altho there is a fuse in the device thats being used in the bit that goes into the socket if you open one up under the bit that pushes in there is a fuse
