if there was any dirt in the tank it wouldve probabaly ran down into the carb or got stuck on the fuel filter if you have one.

Yeh sometimes if you run the tank empty it will pull all the crap and sludge from the bottom of the tank into the carb. So either the carb is gunked up or fuel filter (if you have one), check the fuel tap too.

Then make sure the carb fills with fuel, if it dont theres a blockage somewhere or a broken fuel tap.

You may want to remove the entire fuel tank and clean it out, fit new taps and pipes too. That wouldnt hurt.

They should filter out fuel in petrol pumps at fuel stations or clean them often, if you use a pump thats got fuck all fuel left in it then half your fuel bill will be rust and sludgy shit.

fuel starvation has proberbly killed the plug try a new one. i had alot of fuel delivery problems one time ended up needing new rings as i ran premix but went through a few plugs when i was trying to fix the problem.
