hey guys, i was just wondering and wanting some feedback on tuning my Yamaha Aerox, i want it to go about 65 mph. at the moment it does 50, all thats been done to it is de ristriction. i was wanting to get a performance pipe, variator, race rollers, clutch springs and maybe a polini drive belt... i dont want to add a 70 kit to it though, can you guys tell me what i should maybe get and what a good make pipe is for an Aerox. Cheers Goffy
your never gunna get real power out of it without putting a 70s kit on it, sometimes you can put to much in for a 50 and it wont run properly, your best bet if you want speed is to get a 70s kit and a decent pipe and go from there.
You will never see 65mph from a 50cc with bolt-on's. You are asking for an extra indicated 15mph over what your currently getting, theres no way in hell you can squeeze that amount of extra power out of a standard 50 with just a pipe and some transmission goodies. You ARE going to need a 70cc bore kit & gearup kit, decent exhaust & bigger carb to see anywhere near 65mph.
lol i have seen my mate get to 65 on a flat , and he has no 70kit in. he has a ganelie pipe on and some racing clutch stuff. his bikes an 07 aerox.
65 on the clock, strap a GPS on and you will see how optomistic these moped speedos are. To get a true 65mph, you need a gear up kit, and a 50 hasn't the power to utilize that ratio.
just picked this aerox gear up kit for example, http://en.scooter-attack.com/index2.php?lang=e link not working........ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Polini-Primar...77?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item43a17838d5 hopefully this will work basically it changes your gearing to allow a higher top speed, in the process you can lose a little accleration, but clever roller selection can minimalize that. However the default ratio you have is perfect for your bike, you need the power from at least a sport 70 kit, some say only a mid race 70 cylinder really has the power to make use of the ratios.
im not wanting a 70 kit for mine though, i just want a few additions to it like a pipe, varitor, roller and maybe this gear up kit to make it run quicker and better. i dont want to do the bike up very much as i want to keep it nice for when i come to sell it
to pull taller gearing you will need a 70 kit, whether you want one or not....putting a gear up kit on a 50cc isnt really wise :glare:
lol, i dont know to much about peds but in that case, ill not buy one. im defo not buying a 70 kit. id rather keep it a standard 50 for when i come to sell it. will get more back for it ...
in that case just fit a sports pipe, with the neccesary upjet, lighter rollers and stiffer clutch springs, and leave it at that... you are right, standard bikes fetch more money than modded bikes
would it be worth purchasing a better drive belt and a polini variator with them also? yeh, just seen the same bike as mine on ebay with a pipe on, going for £900 with 10 bids on, it has 6 days left! :O
the polini belt and variator will set you back the thick end of 60 odd quid + p&p for a relatively small increase in acceleration and top speed... if your worried about resale value, it would be best to keep it as standard as possible
Exactly, if you are worried that much about reselling then could you not: 1- Not touch it at all 2- Install a 70cc kit and do whatever you want, then before you sell it, reinstall the standard kit, sell the 70cc kit second hand on ebay
to be honest anyone who knows what they are looking for will be able to tell if the top end has been off...
i got a 50 i got 59mph out of it with the gps all that relly down to it is roller 3.6gr pipe ginneli and up jet to 72 or 74 was about half way in the temp gauge check u have taken all resticion out for it
