are all the threads stripped on the end of the shaft that the variator goes onto if so then you wil need a new crank
ive got a new can so the old 1 is going straight in the bin so might aswell snap them and get some new screws

if u have a battery charger just stick it on charge n see what happens after
has the battery got enough charge to start it as its turning over slow
i have just got an end can for my cbr 125 but the screws in the can thats on the bike r rusty to hell and ones already snaped for loosing it , was...
if its a carburettor bike then there should be an idle screw on the carb that you can twist by hand ,, if you twist slowly to the left the revs...
you will need the full kickstart mechanism for it to work as the teeth look badly damaged and if you take the bendix gears off and the starters...

lol well i did 3 years on a car mechanics course so im ok on cars but think im going to see if i can find a local college course for motorcycle...
well local honda garage has got it because am not that mechanically minded on bikes ,, cars yes bikes no lol so easier for them to do it
best thing to do is take belt cover off and at the bottom left theres like a little gear just make sure thats on propperly and not slipping off
sounds like starter motor slipping of the bendix gears that turns the variator fan
