An excellent way to break off the variator teeth.
I use an impact gun to remove the variator nut. I run 4.5g rollers, lighter ones didn't work for me,but it's worth a try.

What ped is it?
The rollers are probably too heavy, they're fully engaging the variator at too low in the rev range stopping the engine hitting the powerband.
I'm sure you will forget it all when you get your ped back, It may take a little fettling to get spot on but the extra power and revs available...
