right guys and girls im getting the new belt fitted on friday and im also getting new rollers as when i start the bike and turn it on an angle towards the cvt side it makes a rattling sound and also when im going along i can hear a faint rattle every now and then so i think the rollers are worn what size rollers should i go for???? thanks Craig x
you need the same weight and size as are in their, is the variator the stock one? if so google your bike and you will find the standard roller size and weight. as for the rattle, im not sure, i found my aerox gearbox was dry as a bone with no oil. Its only £5-6 for a new pot of oil so id say give that a change as its a very easy job
theirs gearbox oil at the back for the final drive. 2 stroke oils the engine the oil at the back lubricates the gears in the final drive.
yer their will be a bolt uner the cvt at the back, mine was a 12mm nut, be sure to put a pot under it to catch oil. the fill bolt is on top, mine is a large plastic screw you undo by hand
ehmmm i dont really know what exactly you guyz are saying but maybe go to a mechanic or go to yamaha??? they might know...
Just motorbike gearbox oil, i got mine from an autofactors. If they have a few different ones then get one of the lighter ones (thinner oil)
getting changed tomorrow hopefully with new rollers and belt and oil hopefully this goes away then is it worth getting lighter rollers if im topping out at 28mph oh and im riding in the snow for my first time tomorrow
Rollers only effect the revs held by the scooter. If the bike dosent sound like its revving much and is very sluggish then maybe lighter rollers will help. However if the bikes stock then stock weight is likely to be best. nobody can recommend you roller weights without an eact spec of the bike, and even then irt would only be a general rough idea based off a similar set up. I have brought 4 sets of rollers so far for my aerox trying to fine tune the revs held under power It could be that the worn belt is too thin and isnt allowing the bike to reach its highest gearing ratio on the pulleys. You can measure this yourself just by taking the trasnmission case off which is very easy.
how would you do that mate and i can reach my top speed without pulling the throttle all the way and then when i pull it all the way it just gets louder and nothing happens
sounds like the belts worn to me, my aerox did the same when i got it, topped out at 50. turned out the belt was 2-3mm thinner then the wear limit and as such didnt reach the tallest gearing avalible to it. To ake the trasnmission case off, should be very easy, you need to undo the air filtter thats attached and pop it off the case, then it should be 8 or so bolts around the case, undo these and it will come off. Maybe a little tight as the dowl pins rust and stick a little, i had to tap mine off with a hammer gently the first time. Under the case is a belt simply measure across the belt. You will need to know what the wear limit is on your belt, mine was 16mm i think but all bikes vary. if its below the wear limit it will be topping out on gearing before it should
Hmm should see a slight increase in top end then with new belt As for the rollers I foot know, I'd personally leave them and try the new belt and see how it goes, but if a garage is doing the work I'd get them replaced for the same weight
