Hey, this might be a little long winded but here we go! i had a 2005 yamaha aerox with a few race parts and ect on the engine ( listed below ) - stage6 pro rep exhaust - stage6 pro variator (5g rollers ) - stage6 belt - stage6 pro clutch - 17.5 dellorto carb I had an accident on the bike, car went into the side of me and i came off leaving bike on the floor hitting the left side where engine casing is. Anyway i bought another spares and repair 2004 aerox as all i needed was frame radiator and forks, and this 2004 had a nakered engine in so i switched the engine over from my 2005 ( which was fully working before the accident ) to my 2004, and connected it all up. Started it up and it runs just the exhaust made a hell of a louder noise ( stage6 pro rep pipe ), so i took it off and tried again, still made a noise, so i took it off and found a small minor hair-line crack in the gasket part of the exhaust, got that welded up and no longer has a crack in. I put the exhaust back on the bike and it still makes a noise so i put my friends leo vince tt pipe on, and that seems to make a racket aswell. I had the silencer wool and stuff changed inside the end can of the stage6 and its still alot louder then when i had it and also has dropped about 8 mph. The bike runs and will ride just it has increased in noise and dropped in top speed. Does anybody know the reason that may help me to why it is a lot louder and about 8mph slower. Thanks Tom!
Yeah man, Hmmmm what did you change over? Did you swap the carbs over? What main jet are you using? Does it rev higher on tick over, Any smoke coming from the exhaust? Is the exhaust port inside the barrel got any scores or cracks?
all i did was take my old engine ( all them parts ) and switch it straight over, dropped one out and connected another it, left 17.5 on the engine and took that with it too. Hmm im on a 80 jet with standard airbox, on tickover its not loud or anything its just like normal. Nope no smoke and nope i couldn't feel any cracks inside where the exhaust goes
That seems very very odd!! I can't really thing what else it could be, Is the exhaust sitting flush to the exhaust port? Is there any gaps or anything?
^ thats what id be looking for, tbf, mines loud but it idles a bit high even though exhaust is on tight and its a fresh new gasket...but i know its all good new gasket maybe? and new exhaust studs ... gasket should do the job if it doesnt, could be something worse
Yeah the worst case probably could be you have a hair line crack in one of the crank cases or something brining in more air making it louder?
could be that, or can just hope its only needing an exhaust gasket some exhausts are just loud anyways though lol
oh rightt.. well can only hope the gasket cures your problem ,,, otherwise your gonna have to take it all apart and have a close look at stuff lol
