    Take a look at these.
These have come out of a Peugeot v-clic, 50cc, 4 stroke, 61 plated, completely standard and NOT MODIFIED IN ANY WAY. I have just replaced the variator with a complete and full new one; the first photos are the rollers supplied with the variator assembly. They have done just 472km and look at the state of them.
The second set of photos are the replacements that were fitted so i could get my customer going again. They have done the grand distance of 166km.
As well as replacing the variator assembly and rollers, i also replaced the drive belt; i have tonight had to change that as well because it stripped, probably, i'm thinking, due to the rollers not working correctly.

This is the set that was supplied with the variator assembly: 472km

The moral of this story is:

    DON'T BUY CHEAPO ROLLERS!!!!!!!

Teng Tools also rock - they are used by Edd China on Wheeler Dealers. I bought two Teng Tools sockets sets 25 years ago and they are still in fantastic condition. They come lifetime guaranteed too, just like Snap-On.

Always buy the best tools that you can afford - good quality tools will serve you well.

Are those rollers Peugeot OEM ones, Steve? The V-Click is a Peugeot-badged Chinese-built scooter as far as I know and the quality shows.

You're right about the peugeot badged thing, its actually made by a company called Jinan Quinqi in china, they are chinas 20th biggest scooter and electric scooter manufacturer. It's actually a re-badged Sinnis Jet 50. And yeah, the variator and rollers are OEM, brand new for under £20. As you say, quality.
But when the kids parents are on a budget you do what you can to keep the price low for them, so far i haven't charged them for the replacement rollers or belt because they are going back to my supplier. He is most interested to see the damage on them.

The V-Click also looks remarkably like the Pulse Scout, so I wouldn't be surprised to be told that this Jinan Quinqi make a lot of scooters 'for the trade' that get rebadged, like the Direct Bikes ones. /facepalms

Don't let the kid cut the pink wire on the CDI to de-restrict it; it will shred the rollers even more and the engine will probably shake itself to bits.

Says it all about the quality then, doesn't it? Made from the finest, hand-cast Craptonite.

An old Honda SS50 would wee all over that in terms of top speed as standard, even a Cub 50 might.

we all lusted after that bike when i was a kid.
That's a fine example though. Shame we never realised what we had when we were kids. Our old bikes are worth a small fortune now.

My Dad had a 1974 four-speed early version when I was in my early teens and I used to ride pillion with him, that's where I got the bike bug from. I would kill for that machine now. I even feel guilty about the tuned-up and ragged FS1-E that w used to race at Moped Mayhem - we rode that to destruction. What would that be worth today, I wonder?

not as much as that ss50. still a few fizzy's around now. my mate had the bright yellow one. crashed it, killed him. all down to speed and inexperience. I cant talk though; came off my first road bike 6 times in the first 6 months. Nothing major, just inexperience and posing to my mates. Came off in front of a bus the once, that was scary.
